About our District Planning Services
As a not-for-profit, our goal is to build district capacity. We partner with districts to connect professional development strategies with school improvement goals. We bring districts proven approaches that improve educator effectiveness leading to better outcomes for their students.
Establish the vision
Learning objectives are an essential part of any lesson plan and a district's vision and core values, along with the improvement plans, define the high level learning objectives for the educators. Teachers21 works with districts to assess how best to translate those objectives into a series of internally and externally-led professional development activities that will achieve the desired professional growth.
With limited time and money, districts must decide how to have the greatest possible impact from the initiatives they undertake. Teachers21 helps districts connect their professional development curricula and associated coaching and mentoring activities to support and increase the effectiveness of their investments. We also help schools with designing and implementing innovative ways to use time on learning.
By helping districts identify and leverage the strengths and human capital asset of the organization, and building additional capacity where needed, Teachers21 helps leaders throughout a district take ownership for sustaining and building upon successful initiatives while jettisoning those that are not having the desired impact. When learners take responsibility for their own learning, they achieve the highest levels of success.
Teachers21 meets with district leadership teams, at no cost, to learn about their vision, goals and challenges and to devise a program to meet the learning objectives of the district. We then develop a program outline and work with the district to refine it to meet district constraints, and help plan for implementation. Contact Jen Antonucci to schedule a planning session.
Sample Planning Work
- Developed a district-wide program to revitalize teaching and learning in response to a district having dropped to level 3 status. Followed up with content-specific coaching and support.
- Devised a leadership team development strategy of regular facilitated meetings for a level 4 school seeking to develop a stronger learning culture.
- Convened principals from around a district monthly to foster conversations about priorities and how to implement them.
- Provided strategies and training for implementing and effectively using longer block schedules to increase time in the classroom.

Supervision and Evaluation
Supervision and evaluation can be a tremendous lever to ensure the adoption and implementation of programs that move districts forward and it is never too late to refine the approach to have the desired impact on educator growth.
Over 150 districts and 1,500 district leaders learned about the new Massachusetts supervision and evaluation framework from Teachers21. At the core of this work was the establishment of evaluation systems that promote trusting conversations between teachers and their evaluators, and reward educator and leader growth.
