Leadership Licensure Program

The LLP occurs over one year and integrates coursework, fieldwork, and a performance assessment to give aspiring leaders a practical understanding of what an administrator's day-to-day job entails in a wider context of reflective practice. Upon successful completion of the program, candidates will meet the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s Professional Standards and be eligible for licensure as a Principal/Assistant Principals or Director/Supervisor.

As of June 2008, the LLP has prepared 8 cohorts of aspiring principal, assistant principals, and supervisor-director candidates, for a total of 150 educators.

Speaking of. . .

“The LLPS program has not only enriched my own personal growth and professional development, but has provided me with the hands-on skills and knowledge that has reshaped my daily practice. The instructors are top notch practitioners and the cohort model provides a supportive learning community.  This has been the best learning experience I have had in my twenty-five years in education.  I highly recommend this program to anyone looking to lead a school district or simply improve their own professional practice as a school leader."

— John McCarthy
LLPS Class of 2008
Principal, Hopkinton High School

“One of the things I love is that the courses are taught by leaders who are currently in the field. I feel this adds tremendous credibility to be taught by people who are using current methods, not only teaching them."

— Student
